BIG STEVE DID IT:

     I believe that God has a purpose for all things that come our way in life.  We may not understand them, but they are there to help us grow.

     I started doing some "layout" work with my first job many years ago at the old Wilrik Theatre downtown.  I had to create the daily newspaper ads for all of the movies when they were coming soon or showing at the theatre.  We spent a good deal of money on newspaper ads back then so we had some rather large ads each day. 

     The film companies would send us "Press Kits" with photos, logos and that kind of thing on each movie.  Of course it was all on paper and everything was "cut and paste" back then, literally.  I spent hours cutting out photos and images, gluing and rearranging them into our ad space.  Fortunately, I liked it and soon I was responsible for doing them from them on out. 

     I continued to "print papers" as my wife use to call it and as they say...one thing just led to another.  I even dabbled in silkscreen work creating T-shirts and other such things.  I've never been able to draw but managed every once in awhile to come up with something that I was able to sell.  Most of the time I had to use the old "rub down" letters to get things done.  It was one letter at a time and if you made a mistake, you pretty much had to start over.  I can only imagine what "might have been" had I had access to a computer, clip art, stock photos and that kind of thing. 

     I created my first website back in about 2003 for our radio station, WDSG 107.9FM.  The site continues and I invite you to take a look at it sometime.  It's pretty much the reason I've got this site up and running and doing what I'm doing at the present time.

     I've been involved in Radio, TV and Motion Pictures type stuff most all of my working life.  I've also done the other things like restaurant, warehouse, delivery and those things as well.  I love the world of "media and entertainment" though.

     After falling into a bad situation with the radio station, I was forced to shut it down.  That pretty much left me "unemployed" until we can rebuild the station at a new location and get it back on the air with our Beach and Oldies music format.  It's coming...just not as fast as I'd like to see it but, again, it's all in God's timing.

     I had created various promotional items for the radio station along with items for family and friends.  I was even asked to do a website or two and as I've mentioned, one thing has led to another and thus we have BIG STEVE DID IT.

     Big Steve has been a nickname for many years and when I started doing my afternoon radio show, I called it Big Steve's Afternoon Drive In.  I played Beach and Oldies music by request each afternoon and even more folks came to know me as Big Steve.

     So, sitting at home now, unemployed, as most DJ's seem to be every now and then, I continued to work on various print items and some websites.  I have days when I get all wrapped up in it and spend 12-18 hours on the computer pretty much at one stretch.  I normally go to bed about 3am, just minutes after turning off the computer and then turn it right back on after I get up. 

     Family and friends have been encouraging me along the way and thus, I've created this website to see just where it will go from here. 

     I don't intend to make big websites for big corporations.  I just want to do what I'm capable of doing, using the talents God has given and maybe helping someone achieve their own fame along the way.  I don't claim to be a graphic artist, web master or web wizard.  I'll be the first to tell you if I can't do what you need.  I learn something new each day it seems and there are lots of folks on the internet that I need to thank for helping me solve some problems when I get in a bind.

     I could pretty much write a book on being unemployed and struggling to make ends meet but then, I'm sure lots of other folks could also. 

     I'm not making fun of anyone with my "Will Work For Food" sign in my promotional materials.  I've come really close to some bad situations and I don't want to forget once things improve.  You never know who is going through a financial hardship and most, like me, have been ashamed to admit it.  God has been good though.  Things have not been perfect and we are still struggling but, we've learned a lot.  I hope to share more of that one day.
